Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have questions about purchasing, installing or maintaining a residential generator?

Here are the answers to the most frequently asked  questions.

How much does a residential generator cost?

The price depends on the chosen power, the type of installation, and the needs of the home. A quote allows us to propose a solution adapted to your needs.

What generator size should I choose for my home?

The right power depends on the appliances you want to supply, the electrical load and the configuration of the home. We can help you choose a generator adapted to your needs.

Does the generator start automatically?

Yes. An automatic standby generator detects a power outage and starts automatically to supply the home according to the installation and planned configuration.

Natural gas or propane?

The generator can operate on natural gas or propane. If your home is connected to natural gas, the installation can be planned with that fuel supply. If natural gas is not available, a propane installation can be planned.

Is a concrete base necessary?

A solid base helps ensure a stable and durable installation. Our installation can include a concrete base adapted to the generator.

Why install the generator on an elevated stand?

An elevated stand helps keep the generator higher off the ground reducing the risk of snow accumulation around the unit from blocking the ventilation areas during Quebec winter conditions.

Is the winter kit included?

Yes. Our installations can include a winter kit with a battery warmer and oil filter warmer for cold conditions.

How often should maintenance be done?

Regular maintenance is important to help the generator remain reliable. The maintenance program may vary depending on the model, use and the manufacturer's recommendations.

What areas do you serve?

We serve Montreal, Laval, the North Shore and the South Shore.
